UK Chief of the General Staff visits the ARRC
INNSWORTH, United Kingdom - UK Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Nick Carter, KCB, CBE, DSO, ADC Gen, concluded a two-day visit to the ARRC today with an address to service members at the Imjin Briefing Centre.
Carter spoke to the ARRC about the role of the UK and NATO today and in the future and fielded questions as the ARRC prepares to head into a busy exercise season.
"We do live in a very different strategic context,” he said. "I think it means that the importance of ‘international by design’, a conclusion of our defence review two years ago, is at the heart of what we do. I do think it also means that this institution and institutions like it are absolutely fundamental.”
"The ARRC sets a great example for NATO,” he said. "I think it shows exactly what can be done in multinational terms.”
The ARRC continues to be at readiness as the Land Component Command for the NATO Response Force this year.
