SACEUR visits the ARRC
INNSWORTH, United Kingdom - NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), US Army General Curtis Scaparrotti, visited Headquarters, Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (HQ ARRC) here July 27. The SACEUR was met by Commander HQ ARRC, British Army Lieutenant General Tim Radford, and given a brief on the ARRC's work as the NATO Response Force (NRF) Land Component Command headquarters for 2017.
The SACEUR was also briefed on work currently being conducted by the ARRC as part of its 'Corps Recalibration', which is a focus on the importance of corps war-fighting in support of NATO's focus on Defence, Security, Deterrence and Reassurance.
Addressing an assembly of ARRC personnel, Scaparrotti said, "Right now, Europe is a theatre in transition and we are in a time of change. The challenge is how we adapt to the complex environment we are in."
Scaparrotti also added that, "Deterrence and defence require forces that are capable and ready and I believe the ARRC is astride that challenge; we don't know what the next conflict looks like, but we need to be closer in our estimate than the other guy."
