COMARRC presents at RUSI Land Warfare Conference

INNSWORTH, United Kingdom – With an array of multinational military chiefs and defence academics in attendance, Lieutenant General Tim Radford, commander of the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps, delivered remarks on current and future challenges to Corps warfighting at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) Land Warfare Conference in London June 28.

Held annually, the two-day conference over June 27-28 focused this year on the breadth of challenges confronting today’s land forces in a global security environment characterised by constant competition and unpredictability.

"[Over] the past 12 months, whilst continuing to certify as a Land Component Command headquarters, we’ve started on a journey with partners of what we’re styling as ‘Corps Recalibration,’” said Radford.

Radford went on to describe the recalibration as an ARRC effort to transition and adapt, particularly with respect to elements of command and control (C2), a reexamination of today’s Corps deep battle and technology.

Although the three elements of recalibration that were presented are distinct when viewed singularly, the common theme across them all is something that Radford stressed in his closing vision statement.

"We’re adapting to the challenges of an increasingly decentralised and complex battlefield where interoperability and multinationality are the new norm,” said Radford. "Interoperability will be fundamental in any future operation. This needs early investment.”
